A winning proposition in Postipuisto Competition

The joint venture between JKMM Architects, Bonava Suomi Oy and Demos Helsinki won a competition to build a new part of Helsinki, Postipuisto.

The goal of the competition was to design a new part of the city for approximately 5700 residents. The plot used to house the logistic service centre of Posti on the norther part of Postipuisto, Pasila. Now it will be transformed into a cozy and sustainable residential area with a communal spirit and modern take on services.

The winning competition entry of JKMM, Bonava and Demos covers 2 of the six blocks in the south west corner of the plot, right next to the central park. Built in two phases, the blocks will consist of 520 apartments all together.  They will be a mix of privately owned or rented commercial apartments and governmentally supported housing.

The overall aesthetics of the blocks aim to combine modern freshness to timeless and durable materials. The design emphasizes clear and simple architectonic solutions, service creation and adaptability in living and in the neighboring environment.
The first phase of construction is planned to begin during summer 2019.
