Francesca Vittorini Wins Intership With JKMM
Francesca Vittorini’s sustainable school project in Ghana has been chosen as one of the winners in the 2017 Archi-World Academy Awards. As part of her prize, she starts her internship with JKMM in the fall of 2017.
The Archi-World® Academy Awards creates opportunities for future talents in architecture. This year, over 1,500 architecture students participated from all over the world. Among the participating works, twelve projects in total were awarded. The awarding ceremony took place on 18 January 2017 during the BAU exhibition in Munich, Germany.
This year our partner Teemu Kurkela was one of the 12 members of the international jury.
Francesca’s project, INSIDE OUT is a prototype of a sustainable school in Ghana.
The goal of the construction is to promote local building techniques and propose a responsible, sustainable and easily replicable project that strategically combines well-established building traditions and the skills of the local workforce.
The project will be built in the summer of 2017 during an international construction workshop for students and volunteers organized by the design team and the NKA Foundation, held in Abetenim, Ghana.
You can learn more about and contribute to the INSIDE OUT Architecture Workshop through their Facebook page.
