Kirkkonummi Library

Located at the heart of Kirkkonummi, next to St. Michaels Church and the church market square, the current library will be transformed into a meeting place for Kirkkonummi’s residents. In addition to a thorough renovation, the building will be expanded to meet the needs of a modern library. When finished, it will be twice its current size.

The new copper façade will merge the old and the new parts together. The ground floor opens out to its surroundings via large glass walls. Thus, the new café, magazine section and outside terrace will form an inviting continuum with the church square.

Indoors, the layout and design solutions aim to create open spaces and support multifunctionality and flexibility in order to meet the changing requirements set for libraries in the future. The Kirkkonummi Library building will not only be a living room for library goers but also serve a wider variety of users.
