25th anniversary

25 years ago, a group of students wins an architectural competition and, for taking on the design task, establishes a company.  The year was 1998, the competition was the Turku Main Library, and the authors of the winning entry were Asmo Jaaksi, Teemu Kurkela, Samuli Miettinen and Juha Mäki-Jyllilä, the founding partners of JKMM Architects.

Since its inception in 1998, the studio’s numerous architecture competition wins have led JKMM to become an internationally recognised and one of the leading practices in Finland. Today JKMM employs nearly 100 designers.

Now it’s perfect time to celebrate and reminisce the journey up to this day, and above all, to look into the future.

Watch the J, K, M & M talking about the journey, captured by the filmmaker Tapio Snellman.
