About Lillehammer Art Museum

Lillehammer Art Museum is one of Norway’s leading art museums. The collection consists of over 1500 works dating from the 19th century to the present day. Part of the collection is always on show. The museum shows several special exhibitions per year, both with historical art and contemporary art.

Lillehammer Art Museum (Lillehammer Kunstmuseum) was founded in 1927, on the centenary of the establishment of Lillehammer. The museum consists of two main buildings. The first was designed by Erling Viksjø and completed in 1963. A new building designed by Snøhetta was launched for the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994, with new and larger exhibition rooms and an entrance area.
