We Land office building is aiming for high sustainability
We Land – an office building designed to meet the needs of the future – will reach its completion in spring 2024. The new 37,000 sqm building, located in a culture and business district of Ruoholahti, Helsinki, is designed by JKMM in close collaboration with NCC Property Development.
Besides the We Land building is heavily tuned in with the new hybrid work culture, it is aiming for high sustainability.
The distinctive façade, made of recycled and recyclable copper, and a 95 percent waste recycling rate on the construction site are at the moment the most visible examples of the ambitious sustainability thinking in the We Land project. The building’s carbon emissions have been reduced by 30% compared to the norm, and energy consumption is -23% below the limit values. The building will be in energy class A.
The design stage of We Land was awarded BREEAM Outstanding environmental certification, the highest level that can be achieved in this European environmental certification scheme. The building will also be built to the criteria of this highest Outstanding level. When completed, We Land will be the first building in Finland to apply for the highest BREEAM Outstanding level.
