Helen HQ
Helen Ltd, owned by the City of Helsinki, is an energy company that produces electricity, heating and cooling, and develops solutions for renewable energy and electric transport. In 2025, Helen consolidated its operations into new premises in Ruoholahti, relocating to the BREEAM Outstanding-certified We Land office building next to the Salmisaari power plant area.
The We Land office building has been designed in its entirety by JKMM’s architects and interior architects, who were also responsible for the interior design of Helen’s new headquarters workplace. Helen occupies approximately 6,500 asquare metres of office space across four floors. The spaces are designed to support contemporary knowledge work, collaboration and a variety of working styles.
In the interiors, colours and material choices are articulated by floor. In the guest meeting areas, wooden surfaces and a deep blue palette create a refined and elegant atmosphere. The workplace is defined by a timeless, earthy colour palette, complemented by abundant greenery and natural materials that bring a sense of harmony to the overall environment. In the project areas, bold contrasts and vibrant colours introduce energy and inspiration, while also establishing a visual connection to the adjacent power plant area.
Movement within the workplace and between floors has been designed to be fluid. Seating stairs, lounge areas and work cafés form natural internal meeting points.
The new headquarters designed by JKMM provides a shared workplace for Helen’s employees, offering a setting for collaboration, innovation and the development of a new energy future.
