Hospital Nova, Central Finland
How to design a new operation system for healthcare
Hospital Nova, is the first completely new central hospital built in Finland since 1970’s.
The functional concept and building type are entirely new compared to the traditional hospitals. The aim was to create the next generation hospital in Finland. The conceptual design was developed as a collaboration between the client and JKMM.
Key innovations include dividing the hospital into four parts, redefining hot hospital and creating a new operational system for the hospital. Process flows and logistics were also rethought to maximize effiency. The aim was to put patient in the center and deliver the best possible health care. This means seamless integration of hospital functions and architectural solutions. Additional goal was to cut the operation costs of the hospital by 10%.
