In the open international competition for Noblessner seaside buildings and urban space in Tallinn, JKMM collaborated with LOCI landscape architects and Ramboll. The design proposal ‘Noobel’ received an honorary mention among 22 submitted entries and was highly commended for open space solutions.

The proposal delivers a beautiful future-oriented concept while being anchored in a deep understanding of the local cultural-historical urban structure and in harmony with nature.

The historically valuable site within the former shipyard is transformed into an open city space that welcomes all users. Different layers of urban space ensure that the community, both present and future, see themselves in the new urban development. The new sea-side urban development aims to become an internationally competitive, inclusive environment where experiences, well-being, immersion, and reflection are in open dialogue with the surrounding society.

The planned residences are thoughtfully located in Noblessner and its valuable seaside milieu. The goal is to create a new landmark of the maritime district, which stands out as a sculptural whole, but at the same time fits seamlessly into the multifaceted seaside quarter. Building facades create a lively whole. The facade solution not only opens unobstructed sea views from the apartments, but also provides the necessary privacy from the adjacent buildings.

The new residential buildings and adjacent urban spaces will further strengthen Noblessner’s reputation of one of the most beloved new developments in Tallinn. They will be a new driving force in the city’s urban transformation and will become a popular meeting, leisure, and well-being destination in Noblessner and broader Tallinn city area.
